Claim your profileAfter a lifetime of immersing himself in anything visual (cinema, television, those red view-master toys with the round cardboard thingies), Manny Tsigas studied journalism and cinema at RMIT University in the hope of one day working in broadcast news. In his final year he worked as a print reporter (and eventually became the acting editor) for the English supplement of Australia’s leading Greek newspaper, Neos Kosmos. During this time he also worked as a casual journalist for Leader newspapers, and a film critic for several publications. In 2008 Manny earned a cadetship with SBS in Sydney, and for the next decade would work as a presenter, chief producer, and cross-platform reporter for SBS World News, covering a multitude of nationally and internationally relevant stories from its Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra bureaus. His passion for cinema and pop culture was put to good use as SBS arts and entertainment reporter, but he also led live rolling coverage from natural disaster zones and visited parts of rural Australia to produce and film his own special features. He was also selected to take part in the 2017 CNN Journalism Fellowship in Atlanta, before travelling to Washington DC to compile a series of reports about Donald Trump's first year in office. In 2018 he began working as a senior producer for ABC News Breakfast. These days he works in the ABC's Asia Pacific Newsroom in Melbourne as a reporter, producer and presenter for "The World", and also produces and presents multiple weeknight bulletins on the ABC News channel.
