Claim your profileAs VP of Community Engagement, I lead strategies to elevate Connecticut Public's work and expand collaborations with diverse audiences and community-focused organizations across the state. I'm often asked to moderate high profile panel discussions and events including: Joseph Biden at the Distinguished Lecture Series at Southern CT State University; The Connecticut Forum with Pulitzer Prize winning war photojournalist, Lynsey Addario and White House photographer, Pete Souza; and Leah Penniman, at the International Festival of Arts & Ideas Visionary Leadership Award. Prior to joining the Senior Leadership team, I was a public radio reporter with 22+ years of experience covering a variety of beats including education, immigration, juvenile justice, child welfare, veterans' affairs and military issues. I'm the recipient of multiple journalism awards including a national Gracies Award from the Alliance for Women in Media and three national awards from the Public Media Journalists Association or PMJA. For nearly 7 years, I hosted WNPR's popular talk show, "Where We Live." As Executive Producer, I grew its audience by going beyond news headlines and interviews with policymakers to feature more conversations about Connecticut and the stories of its residents. I began working at the station in 2006 as the newsroom's Assignment Editor and also was local host of "All Things Considered" and "Here and Now." My stories have aired on NPR's "Morning Edition," "All Things Considered," "Weekend Edition," "Weekend All Things Considered," "Here and Now," and "Latino USA". I've also contributed to Reuters and my veterans' stories from WNPR's Coming Home Project have been picked up by Digital First Media's "American Homecomings." Besides broadcast journalism, I've emceed fundraisers and have served as a panelist on several forums about the media.
