Claim your profileLeila started her career in 2010 as an investigative broadcast journalist in Johannesburg, South Africa. She has covered hard news and features delving into a range of issues from the lack of transformation in the South African property sector to ocean conservation, gentrification in the heart of Cape Town and the brutal eviction of vulnerable farm workers in wine-making regions of the Western Cape. She has covered high profile South African events including the arrest of former president Jacob Zuma, the death of Nobel Peace Laureate and veteran anti-apartheid activist Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu and the 2015 student protests which rocked the nation. She graduated from Rhodes University in 2010, and was awarded a Pulitzer Fellowship in 2012, which saw her complete her MA at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles. She lives in London and works at Reuters as a news producer.
