Claim your profileThe 2007 ABC Local Radio Broadcaster of the Year, Kelly's career in radio started at 4VL in Charleville, a leaping pad to stations in Cairns and Shepparton and then back to Brisbane where she worked in commercial radio newsrooms for a few years before finding her way into the soft, warm arms of 612 ABC Brisbane.Starting her ABC career with a stint in NewsRadio in 1999, Kelly was picked up by the radio newsroom where she spent five years wonderful years as a journalist, senior sub-editor and newsreader.Kelly has spent 8 years on Afternoons, 6 years on the Evenings shift, and in 2024 moved back to the Drive shift where she had been a presenter for 6 years between 2004-2011. Kelly was awarded "Best Use of the Medium" at the 2011 ABC Local Radio awards for her overnight broadcast during the hours that Category 5 Cyclone Yasi crossed the northern coast of Queensland.Hundreds of people rang, sent letters, cards and emails praising Kelly for her calm, encouraging manner that night, with many of them saying she had saved their life.Kelly can be heard on ABC Radio Brisbane from 3:30pm - 6:30pm, Monday to Friday.
