Kailey Broussard covers health for KERA News, the NPR affiliate radio station serving North Texas. Their coverage areas include public health policy, access to health care, Medicaid and the landscape of gender-affirming care.Previously, Kailey covered the city of Arlington for KERA News, the Arlington Report and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Across four years, Kailey covered the Arlington City Council, breaking news, coronavirus pandemic recovery and economic development. Before moving to Texas, Kailey was a freelancer and digital content intern at The Advocate, Louisiana's largest news organization. Their work ranged from writing for audiences in Acadiana, Baton Rouge and New Orleans, as well as coverage in their hometown of Lafayette, La.Kailey earned their master's degree from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. During that time, Kailey contributed to the award-winning Carnegie-Knight News21 investigation into federal disaster recovery; a PBS NewsHour and Los Angeles Times investigation into the rise of U.S. pedestrian deaths; and a project detailing the lives of Venezuelans seeking refuge in Peru.
