Claim your profileI spend my free time checking the news on my phone, I listen to NPR for fun, I read until I'm too tired to keep my eyes open. I'm propelled by the written word. It is my life goal to settle into a career fueled by it. So far, I have done just that. Through my career at my collegiate newspaper, I grew from News Reporter to Web Editor to Managing Editor, learning how to become a writer and eventually how to teach writing to others. Within an internship at the Patriot Ledger, I learned the pace and beat of a daily paper and the intrinsic value of local news. Finally at the Globe, having written over 4000 articles for both print and online, and with hundreds of photos published, I have learned the art of storytelling, the nuance of forming relationships within the community, and the value of fair and accurate journalism. I have also begun to explore the publishing industry. At an internship at Candlewick Press for four months, I snuck a peak at the inner workings behind the book spine, was able to write copy for jacket covers, handled dozens of manuscripts and helped editors write letters to their authors with critique. My knowledge of photography and graphic design aided me in the construction of cover art, and my love of deadlines and a fast pace work environment served me well as I oversaw the process of book construction - from inkling to the tangible. It's another field where I can truly excel.Regardless of the field, from journalism to photography to the field of publishing, I am passionate and dedicated to what I do. I look forward to proving it to you.Specialties: *Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Garageband, Indesign, Microsoft Office platforms, Wordpress, College Publisher *Familiar with both PC and Mac platforms
