Claim your profileMy many years in national newspapers and magazines have given me strong journalistic skills with an eye for the story and the best way of telling it, along with the tenacity to hunt down factual details for contextual accuracy and engaging contributors for compelling storytelling. Building constructive relationships based on trust is something I pride myself on, a strength I built on during a decade in teaching. My role as mentor, tutor and assistant head of sixth form was as important as my role teaching English and producing/directing the school musical and drama productions, giving me responsibility for the general welfare, creative development and academic progress of several thousand young people over the years. In spite of the challenge of overcoming some employers’ reluctance to hire an older woman, I consider my extensive experience and broad skillset to be valuable commodities as I pursue a career change into TV production. Dealing sensitively with complex situations and all kinds of people – from vulnerable case studies to MPs, experts to celebrities - is something learnt over time, while my energy and commitment to pursuing perfection remain undiminished. I was fortunate enough to be accepted onto the ITV Women’s Returners Programme and was made a fellow of the John Schofield Trust – both of which have helped me make progress in my new career path.I continue to look for opportunities to further develop my skills in documentary film making.
