Claim your profileAs a journalist, I strive to report with fairness, accuracy and empathy. My core mission is to hold power to account and provide vital, timely information to the stakeholders who need it most. I am a White House reporter at POLITICO covering the Trump administration, with a focus on Vice President JD Vance. I also co-anchor West Wing Playbook, the agenda-setting newsletter covering all things power and personnel in the world’s most influential building. Prior to moving into this role at POLITICO, I covered breaking news and national politics during the 2024 presidential election; Mayor Eric Adams, City Hall and campus unrest in New York City; and transportation policy on Capitol Hill. Before that, at NBC News, I covered national politics during the January 6 hearings and 2022 midterms. My first job in journalism was at the New York Post, where I focused on metro enterprise as part of the Sunday team and worked a breaking shift each Saturday. I have shared my reporting in live and pre-recorded hits on C-SPAN, MSNBC, Fox, BBC, NPR, SiriusXM and CBS New York, as well as POLITICO's Playbook Daily Briefing podcast. In college, I served as editor in chief and president of the Columbia Daily Spectator, Columbia University's 148-year-old flagship student newspaper and an independent 501(c)(3) media company. In that role, I oversaw a team of about 500, over 100 of whom were on our work-study payroll. I also founded and edited a magazine focused on human rights. I double-majored in political science and creative writing and won a senior award for my creative nonfiction portfolio. Find me on X @iriesentner.
