I have been in the newspaper business for 35+ years, including the past 33 at The Oklahoman where I have worked in both sports and news. From starting at The Oklahoman as a high school sports reporter, I moved to news as a general assignment reporter then was a courthouse reporter (county and federal for a decade). Over the years, I have also covered health, education and was on the state desk at The Oklahoman for a short time. In 2002, I moved back to sports to take over the outdoors beat and I am still writing a weekly outdoors column while working the sports desk five nights a week and contributing other stories when needed, such as during the high school playoffs, rodeo, etc.I have a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Oklahoma and a master's degree in journalism (education emphasis) from the University of Central Oklahoma.
