She helped launch The Narwhal's Ontario bureau, steering the team to Canada's highest journalism honour, the Michener Award. She has also been executive editor at the beloved women's magazine, Chatelaine, where she honed her ability to put the fun in feminism, and a columnist, reporter, editor and podcast host and producer at The Globe and Mail. In 2011, Denise was a founding member of the groundbreaking digital magazine the Ethnic Aisle. The Urban Alliance on Race Relations has recognized her longstanding commitment to integrating racial justice into Canadian journalism.
