Claim your profileDebra Rosenberg is the executive editor for Smithsonian, overseeing the magazine’s creation from story idea to editing to publication in print, app and digital formats. Rosenberg also manages the magazine’s multimillion dollar editorial budget. In 2023, she oversaw the launch of a new magazine podcast, "There's More to That," in partnership with PRX Productions. She previously led the magazine through the transition to a new publishing system, streamlining story production and integrating print and digital content for the first time. Earlier, Rosenberg oversaw political coverage for NPR.org, serving as the website’s lead editor on domestic politics. She coordinated the network’s political reporting across radio, web, mobile and social media platforms, working with multimedia producers to create videos, photo galleries, and other interactive forms of storytelling. Rosenberg previously served as deputy editor of Newsweek, overseeing coverage of health, environment, education and social issues for both the print magazine and the website. Before joining Newsweek’s senior leadership team in January 2007, Rosenberg served as the magazine’s deputy bureau chief in Washington and one of its most accomplished reporters, specializing in the Supreme Court and social issues such as fetal rights, gay marriage and stem-cell research.
