Claim your profileDaniel Kile is an editor, media strategist, and communications executive with two and a half decades of experience at the intersection of journalism, entertainment, and politics. An expert in digital media, storytelling, crisis communications, brand building, event programming, audience development, and content curation, he has served as a strategist for some of the world’s leading media brands, including Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, Time Inc., Time, Fortune, and more. As the deputy editor of Vanity Fair, Kile works closely with the editor-in-chief in the management and strategic development of every aspect of the brand’s editorial mission. As the number two on the masthead, he has helped conceive and orchestrate a detailed transformation of the brand over the past seven years. Kile’s daily responsibilities include oversight of editorial and creative staff, story assignment and content curation, cover selection, story editing, photo and design direction, live events production, brand development, revenue generation, and more. In 2023, his role expanded to include oversight of Vanity Fair’s creative team, responsible for all visuals, photography, and design, including cover shoots, talent portfolios, and photojournalism. Kile is also the executive producer of live events. He oversees the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, which has grown significantly in scale, cultural relevance, and revenue under his leadership. In addition, Kile is Vanity Fair’s chief editorial liaison with the sales and marketing team at Condé Nast, working closely with them to develop custom programs for advertisers. Under his direction, VF has produced a number of live events with corporate sponsorship partners, including the Vanities Party honoring young Hollywood and many more.Prior to joining Vanity Fair, Kile served as the senior vice president of brand communications at Time, Inc. In this role, he managed a team of 21 public relations professionals across a diverse portfolio of more than 25 media brands, including TIME, InStyle, Essence, Fortune, and Sports Illustrated. Previously, he held senior communications positions at TIME, The New Yorker, and Fortune, where he worked closely with those newsrooms on politics, business, entertainment, and cultural coverage. He was also closely involved in the production and promotion of The Time 100 Gala, The New Yorker Festival, and Fortune’s global B2B conferences business.
