I have a track record in managing people and teams, staff recruitment and development, full-funnel content strategy, budgets, operations, story editing, AI, SEO, product, newsletters, live coverage, social, data-driven audience growth, and cross-functional coordination in matrixed settings.. I have proven success leading digital transformations. I'm currently Editor in Chief of the national business news website Quartz, where I oversee all content, strategy, operations, audience growth, recruitment, personnel, budgeting, and more, including collaboration with sales, product, finance, and other business-side functions. I am spearheading a newsroom transformation that grew audience more than 600% YOY, and leading experiments in newsroom AI publishing. I previously spent four years in senior leadership roles at local news outlets. As Deputy Managing Editor for News & Investigations at The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, I oversaw all News & Investigations editors, reporters, content, operations and more. As an Assistant Managing Editor at The Philadelphia Inquirer, I oversaw content strategy and digital transformation, running a suite of editorial newsletters, a cross-functional team of digital editors, and a new data-driven storytelling desk. And as Senior Politics Editor at The Inquirer, I was responsible for all Politics & Governing coverage, online and in print, for one of the largest local news organizations in the country. Before moving back to my hometown of Philadelphia, I was Editorial Director for Digital at Barron's, where I was responsible for all news and digital operations, including news planning and publishing, platforms and products, SEO and other distribution, cross-functional collaboration, managing a team of editors, and for overall audience and subscriber growth. For five years prior to that, I worked at Time and Time Inc., where I rose to become Director of News for both Time and its parent company. I ran a 24/7 cross-brand publishing desk with a distributed team of 25+ journalists working across three continents that drove audience growth to brands including Time, Fortune, People, Travel + Leisure, and Real Simple. Prior to my role with Time I spent several years as a politics reporter and editor. My work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, New York Post, New York Daily News, POLITICO, and several other publications.
