Claim your profileMy name is Cordelia Zars. I am a journalist, playwright, musician, and Founder of Empathy Theatre Project. I combine my classical music training with ten years of radio-broadcast journalism to create stories for the stage that explore timely social and environmental issues. I've worked as a radio-journalist, professional writer, composer, audio producer, and content editor for 12 years. My journalism career began in NPR newsrooms as a producer, editor, and reporter. I went on to become a Producer and Reporter for NHPR's All Things Considered, and then transitioned to outdoor/environmental podcasting as the Dirtbag Diaries' Senior Producer and Editor for six years. I then founded a nonprofit theatre company in Colorado, where I serve as the Executive Director. At Empathy Theatre Project I write songs, musicals, and monologues that explore what it means to be American in a time of deep cultural divide. We perform our plays locally and submit them to theaters nationwide. I also manage our creative team, contractors, taxes and bookkeeping, communications, and fundraising.
