A Tar Heel born, bred and dead, I'm a passionate communications professional interested in bridging the gap between underserved communities and information. I'm currently a journalist for The News Herald of Morganton, NC, where I have covered nearly every beat under the sun -- crime, city government, education, features, business, investigative and even a little sports. As a reporter, I have honed my writing and photography skills, broadened my understanding of SEO best practices and spearheaded my publication's video initiative. I'm grateful to have been recognized for my investigative reporting, feature writing, lede writing and videography skills by the North Carolina Press Association. Before starting at The News Herald in May 2018, I spent my undergrad career at UNC Chapel Hill gaining valuable experience in reporting, public relations planning (Fill Your Bucket List Foundation and the UNC School of Information and Library Science), account planning (500THz) HTML and CSS coding, data collection and analysis and graphic design using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
