A career that began in sports and spanned the country settled in the Carolinas, where I've been covering the Cape Fear region. The best part, as anyone who's been in the business long enough will attest, has been the people I've worked with, cussed at and picked up when life throws them a haymaker. I covered hurricanes, tornadoes, rode in tractorcades, handled serpents and competed in seed-spitting and shrimp shucking events. I've been shot at, spit on and ... as I mentioned earlier ... had my pants split by the reigning world champion wrestler.Did I mention that New York Yankee legend Billy Martin stumbled into my wedding reception, thinking it was a bar? The way I see it, you can either let life happen or you can jump in. This business has offered so many "jump-in" opportunities. Hoping to have a few more.
