Over the past two decades, she has traveled throughout the U.S. and internationally covering a wide variety of issues including science, the environment, education, healthcare, politics, social issues, technology, breaking news, and global health. In 2017, Cat won an American Association for the Advancement of Science silver award for feature news reporting. She was a member of two NewsHour reporting teams nominated for national Emmy awards for reports about Cuba and the Affordable Care Act. During a three-year global health assignment, Cat and her colleagues received a number of recognitions including a National Press Club Award for a story about AIDS funding in Mozambique.
