Prior to moving to Baltimore, he led the staff of The Memphis Commercial Appeal through coverage of the death of Tyre Nichols, for which five Memphis Police officers have been charged, and the kidnapping and death of 34-year-old Eliza "Liza" Fletcher, who was found dead four days after being kidnapped while jogging on the University of Memphis campus.
