Hi, my name is Bharbi! (Visit this link to my portfolio: www.bharbihazarika.com) Currently, I am growing my skillset in audience engagement, solutions journalism and building newsroom products Based in NYC, with a passion for trauma reporting and developing strategies that will grow your newsroom and build meaningful connections with your audience I have worked in over five newsrooms, engaging with audiences at local, national and international levels. As a producer for CNN International, I pitched and reported stories on COVID-19, LGBT issues and climate change. In grad school, I produced an investigative series on the recovery industry in Appalachian Ohio that continues to bear the brunt of the opioid crisis in the U.S. I also worked with a local news outlet in Ohio and a content management company to create a news aggregation tool, which helped locals access health and political information As for my future, I hope to work in a bridge role between newsroom and audience or product team to ensure we are producing journalism that is reaching relevant audiences and contribute to the public good In my free time, you can find me obsessing over history, reading or cooking a mean curry My strengths: interviewing, reporting, social media strategy, research, video and photo editing
