She is currently the Senior Development Editor for Serial Productions, part of The New York Times, where she scouts new series for the makers of hits like "Serial," "S-Town," "The Trojan Horse Affair," and "Nice White Parents." Previously, she was supervising editor for “The Daily,” the New York Times’ flagship podcast and the top news podcast in the world, where she edited a diverse range of news and enterprise audio journalism. Before joining The New York Times, Anita was the executive editor and co-host of Pop-Up Magazine, named one of the World's Most Innovative Companies by Fast Company, and creators of the touring "live magazine." In her time at Pop-Up, Anita traveled North America on 12 seasonal tours, hosting and staging shows at Lincoln Center in Manhattan, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Curran Theatre in San Francisco, the Theatre at Ace Hotel in LA, the Aspen Ideas Festival, and other venues. She led a team of six story producers, and collaborated with audio producers, filmmakers, writers, photographers, artists, and musicians on dozens of original stories and performances. As executive editor, Anita also led Pop-Up through a shift from live to digital storytelling as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, which included its first-ever online show and its first nomination for a National Magazine Award. As co-host, she also collaborated with the company's Brand Studio to present ads on behalf of advertising partners, including Google, Dropbox, Chanel, Coach, and LEGO. Before Pop-Up, Anita was associate features editor at BuzzFeed News. Her investigation into the mishandling of sexual assault cases at two historically black colleges led to policy changes at both institutions. Many moons ago, Anita also worked on the sales team at W Magazine and held internships at ELLE, Woman’s Day, and an English language news-site in Sweden. She is a former Teach For America fellow and a graduate of Brown University.
