NEWS MEDIA PROFESSIONAL Cross Trained in Staff Management & Targeted Newsgathering I’m an experienced media professional with solid judgment, excellent communication, and organizational skills. Who performs creatively and effectively under intense deadlines and understands how to respond to breaking news and emerging stories. I’m results focused with a keen eye on strategic planning and execution. I bring to the table 20 years of broadcast news experience ten of which is in newsroom management as Managing Editor and Assistant News Director. I’ve developed strategies to increase viewership and also contributed to keeping overtime to a minimum. I’ve worked to develop talent through training programs and individual attention. I’ve covered refinery explosions, natural disasters, and the deaths of dignitaries. I’ve worked in newsrooms across the country by design. Organizational Skills *Worked with desk staff, reporters, and special project producers to develop a daily coverage plan. *I developed and maintained a calendar of upcoming events such as Back to School and Elections as well as station sponsored events for coverage. *I was in constant communication with News Operations and *Engineering on the status of ENG equipment. Staff Management *I worked on staff scheduling and evaluations. *I have experience managing a small staff as well as working with staff in two different cities. *I’ve challenged reporters to dig for the story and find the emotion.
