Claim your profileAlison Kubler has a double major in Art History from the University of Queensland, Australia, and a Masters in Post-war and Contemporary Art History from Manchester University, England.She has over 30 years of experience as a curator in museums and galleries in Australia, as well as on major public art commissions.She worked as Arts Adviser to the Federal Minister for the Arts and Sport, held full-time curatorial positions at QUT Art Museum and Gold Coast City Art Gallery, and served as Associate Curator at the University of Queensland Art Museum. Alison is the Editor in Chief of VAULT (vaultmagazine.com), a journal focused on art and culture, and a regular contributor to various art magazines and journals. She served as a Member of the Council of the National Gallery from 2018 to 2024, was the Chair of the Collections Committee of the National Gallery, and a Committee Member of Know My Name. From 2012 to 2018, she was a Board Member of the Museum of Brisbane, and from 2018 to 2022, she sat on the Advisory Board of the Sherman Centre for Culture and Ideas (SCCI).She is a member of the Standing Committee for ‘the churchie’ Emerging Art Prize, Australia’s longest-running art prize for emerging contemporary artists, which was founded in 1987. She is a standing member of the Second Chance Programme, a volunteer-run charitable organisation founded in 2001 to support homeless and at-risk women and children in crisis care, long-term accommodation, and domestic violence shelters throughout Queensland.Alongside Danielle Renshaw, she is a Principal of Renshaw & Kubler Art Consultants, an independent curatorial and art advisory that connects artists with creative projects. Alison was the Women’s College within the University of Queensland 2022 Community Alumna Award Winner and serves as a Network Ambassador for Women’s College.Alison is also co-author of Art and Fashion in the Twentieth Century published by Thames and Hudson UK (2013), subsequently translated into German and Japanese.
