Claim your profileI am lucky to be alive. Years ago, I was bitten by an insect carrying encephalitis, putting me in a coma for 10 hours, which caused brain damage and epilepsy. At its worst, I was on 32 pills a day, averaging 18 seizures a month. My family and I also had to manage the medical insurance side as well. I lived with epilepsy for almost 25 years until I had brain surgery, which stopped my seizures.Career wise, after years of insurance roles with a focus on underwriting and claims, I developed a desire to open my own shop with the aim of helping people navigate the complex medical insurance system. I launched MedWise Billing, Inc. in 2007, later adding MedWise Insurance Advocacy as a division within it.The range of problems Americans face with regards to the health insurance system is vast. This includes overcharged medical bills, doctors being out of network, and having claims denied. People also deal with challenges related to rehab care coverage, travel insurance claims, and long-term care claims. In addition to solving these issues for my clients, the best part of my work is keeping people from claiming bankruptcy due to medical bills, which is all too common. To help more people handle medical insurance challenges, I teamed up with co-author Dr. Douglas Winslow Cooper. Together we co-authored the books “Solved! Curing Your Medical Insurance Problems” and “Multi Payer Medicine Nightmare Made in the USA,” which explores the major players in the medical system including ERISA plans, health insurance companies, and federal and state governments. We discuss how to navigate this system, what to do, and what not to do to protect yourself and your finances.Praise for “Solved! Curing Your Medical Insurance Problems”“Who hasn’t been bewildered and outraged by lengthy, inscrutable medical bills and the tricky ways of the health insurers? This book…shows how commercial crime hunters (as when there is no conscious over-billing or denial of claims) and tough negotiators go to work on those sellers who deceive, gouge or deny your legitimate rights to honest, skillful and prompt services. Learn what to watch out for in this volume by authors who know the inside ways of sellers who try to take you to the cleaners.”- Ralph Nader“The kind of information you are teaching others is very valuable and would save patients a lot of their hard-earned money.”- Wendell PotterFeatured in:The New York TimesWashington PostConsumer ReportsWall Street Journaland moreIf you are having problems with medical bills, please message me on here, or call me at 845-238-2532.
