Claim your profileI have been working for The Daily Star since its inception in 1991. I started out as a Feature Writer, then was Magazine Editor for The Star Weekend Magazine for 18 years, wrote a satirical column 'Postscript' in the magazine. I joined the Editorial Section in 2015 and have been writing a column 'No Strings Attached'. I studied Economics at Boston College but realised my calling was in writing and found journalism to be the perfect profession to explore that. While working at The Daily Star I went on a Fellowship on Investigating and Environmental Journalism at UC Berkeley which was an eye-opening experience. I love working at DS because it gives me a deeper understanding and connection with my country as well as a strong sense of identity and belonging. I am always surrounded by intelligent, compassionate and socially conscious people who are also a lot of fun to be with which is essential for me because I love a good laugh! I am interested in issues related to human rights, social justice, health, international politics and the arts.
