Claim your profileAs The Economist's head of newsletters I oversee the publication's editorial strategy for newsletters and lead a team of talented editors based in Britain and North America. Together we edit and produce 24 newsletters, working closely with senior editors, correspondents and fact-checkers.Newsletters are a unique form of journalism at The Economist. They are distinct from our other types of written coverage: readers expect (and respond best to) a more conversational tone. As our portfolio has grown, newsletters have become an increasingly important tool for reader engagement, helping us to retain existing subscribers and acquire new ones. Our current pool of newsletters covers topics ranging from finance to defence to culture. My role involves working with colleagues in data, product, design, marketing and subscription teams to ensure that our newsletters are performing across a range of metrics. I previously spent eight years working at electronic music website Resident Advisor, serving as the site’s editor-in-chief for two and a half years. During my time at RA I also worked as news editor and managing editor. I began my career in journalism working as a reporter at the Messenger Press in Adelaide, South Australia, which at the time was part of News Corp’s stable of newspapers.
